Board Level Obsolescence
AdTEC-USA can take up & work with customers in identifying board / card level replacement preparing the specifications and testing / qualification requirement of boards. The below examples illustrates the three board level obsolescence management cases demonstrates our capability in specifying, manufacturing, testing & qualification expertise.
4MB Memory Card
This card was being used by an Indian customer as a part of Messaging System. But the OEM who had supplied the cards stopped providing the spares / technical support. Since this card is part of a system which is still actively used by Indian customer, they approached us to find out if any card-to-card replacement solution can be made.
Since no technical data / information about the card were available, we had to take up a total reverse engineering of the card from scratch, identifying each & every component, each connection etc. The mapping of the connectivity was completed and the circuit schematic diagram was prepared. Since the card being used was a very old card using old generation components, it was then decided to optimize the card by using latest available components in place of older components. This was also essential keeping in mind that this card had to be maintained for several years in future. Total re-design & optimization of the card was carried out, at the same time maintaining the existing external interfaces and the board mechanicals such as dimensions and interface connectors. The card was tested thoroughly for the functionality in the system with their existing application software and found to be working same as the earlier card.
Timing & Lamp Driver Card, Display Decoder Card and Command Generation Card
These cards were being used by an Indian customer as the part of their communications system. But the OEM who had supplied the cards stopped providing the spares / technical support. Since these cards were part of a system which is still actively used by them, they approached us if any card-to card replacement solutions can be found. Since the components used on the cards were all obsolete now, the existing components were replaced with functionally equivalent components, which are in active production & hence availability is assured for many years from now. This was essential keeping in mind that these cards had to be maintained for several years in future. Total re-design & optimization of the cards was carried out, at the same time maintaining the existing external interfaces and the board mechanicals such as dimensions and interface connectors. The cards were tested thoroughly for the functionality in the system and found to be working the same as the earlier card.
Control Module Card
This card forms a part of the 5KW Transmitter being manufactured by an Indian customer. It is used to monitor the status & control the operation of HF Transmitter with the help of a SM800PC/X Smart Module. But the OEM who had supplied the card has stopped manufacturing the card. Hence OEM is not providing the spares / technical support. Since these cards were part of a system which is still actively used by the customer, they needed to have a card-to-card replacement solution.
